Paul Katsieris is the Principal of Katsieris Origami: Architecture & Urbanism.
Paul is a respected Architect with 30 years of design experience. He graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne, having worked in the offices of Linsday Holland and Newton Hutson as an undergraduate. In 1991 he received a Greek Presidential-Australian Commonwealth Award to travel and to study the work of contemporary architects in Europe and Asia. In 2000 he featured in the ABC Television documentary series ‘In the Mind of the Architect’.
Prior to founding KATSIERIS ORIGAMI, Paul was an Equity Principal of Hassell and was with the firm for 21 years. During this time, he led the architecture discipline in Melbourne and was the national design quality principal. Paul was the Design Principal for the Owen Dixon Commonwealth Law Courts, Melbourne; the Government Services Offices, Dandenong; the Sunshine Magistrates and Children's Court, Sunshine; and was Design Principal/collaborator on the designs for the Urban Workshop Office Tower at 50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne; The Roma Mitchell Commonwealth Law Courts, Adelaide; “The Age” Print Centre, Tullamarine; one40 William Street Office Tower, Perth; The Fiona Stanley Hospital, Perth and on major projects in China and across Asia.
Since founding KATSIERIS ORIGAMI Paul has been the Government Architectural Design Advisor for a number of major Victorian Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects. These include the new Royal Children’s Hospital Project, Parkville; the new Bendigo Hospital and the First Tranche of the new State Government Schools PPP Projects. He is currently commissioned to provide Independent Design Advisory services for the Melbourne Metro Underground Rail Project (Office of Independent Reviewer) and is an Urban Design Advisor and Reviewer for the Suburban Rail Loop Authority.
He is active in architectural design education and has led thesis-level design studios at the University of Melbourne's School of Design and Deakin University for a number of years.
Paul is a foundation member of the Victorian Design Review Panel; a body administered by the Office of the Victorian Government Architect. The VDRP overviews the design-quality of major public and private infrastructure across Victoria.
