KATSIERIS ORIGAMI: Architecture & Urbansim

Katsieris Origami is an architecture and urban design studio based in Melbourne. The studio designs in a forward-looking, optimistic manner believing that architecture and urban design can always contribute positively to individual and collective human existence.

Our studio is unique in that we design small and large-scale projects simultaneously. From modest houses to large civic buildings to major urban designs, we find that robust designs take on an inevitable quality, willing themselves into reality irrespective of scale. Our designs start from our client's brief, our client's particular stories and the specifics of a site. We weave these elements together and then cross-fertilise with new abstract or material information to achieve equilibrium between the poetic and the rational.

Designing and building are seminal cultural activities, both disciplines being enriched by engaging constantly with the other. Through the design and construction of our projects, we hope to establish long-lasting relationships with our clients. Equally, we also seek long-lasting creative relationships with innovative construction contractors, specialist workshops and dedicated material fabricators. We champion local manufacturing expertise and our design process will often involve the early input from specialist fabricators and construction contractors. This gives our studio greater capacity to refine design ideas, ensure designs are workable and explore the rich narrative possibilities of contemporary construction.

Ultimately, we work to deliver exemplary buildings, spaces and urban environments that provide long lasting, life-enhancing experiences; experiences where form, space,  place, technology, construction science and art fuse to the enduring benefit of all.
